Product Specialist (Wipers)
Summary: Develop and maintain comprehensive line/products for North American Aftermarket including the development of marketing strategies, coordination of products and introduction to vendors and customers. Coordinate warranty analysis and provide technical assistance to Aftermarket customer service. Working with the sales department, set up promotions and recommended distribution channels for assigned product lines (Wipers and Accessory products).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Management (for product lines):
• Develop comprehensive and competitive lines / products for the North American Aftermarket for Wipers and Accessory Products
• Provide technical assistance to customers – help desk
• Maintain catalogue, product updates, super cessions, and consolidations
• Conduct market research to determine customers’ product needs and desires
• Set up and maintain the technical product and application database (Omnitek), update master and send product updates to customers per OE release
• Develop marketing programs and strategies and maintain assigned product line
• Identify gaps in current inventory and work together with Program Management to identify suppliers and products for wipers and assessory products
• Initiate problem solving activities and provide support should customer problems occur
• Assure the proper follow-up and closing of problems using data, Company or customer provided methods and problem solving tools
• Collect and analyze warranty data in order to provide and implement permanent solutions arising from technical problems
• Define product sourcing / manage gross margin objectives
• Responsible for quality and field sales
• Coordinate warranty analysis
• Coordinate / conduct technical training both internally and externally (customer clinics); act as prime technical voice in front of the customer
• Conduct competitive analysis / benchmarking
• Assist with stock returns; identify competitor parts and fit to Valeo parts when possible
• Maintain and update Master File, catalogue and BOM in ERP (MacPac, Omnitek)
• Provide assistance with quality concerns, field sales and customer product concerns
• Work closely with IAM Program Manager to maintain market database and coordinate semi-annual sales forecasts
• Prepare professional photographs of products in assigned product lines for online catalogue
Pricing (for product lines)::
• Determine selling prices based on market price
• Benchmark competitions’ pricing / programs
Promotions (for product lines)::
• Recommend and set up sale promotions with Sales Department
• Develop and update benefits per product line (competitor, marketing program analysis)
Distribution:
• Recommend the distribution (channels) strategy in relation to the Sales Department
• Analyze performance, competitiveness and product trends in the marketplace for wipers and accessories
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Experience: Minimum 4 years in automotive field, preferably in automotive aftermarket or related product
lines.
Knowledge and Skills: Familiar with the field’s concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on
experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of
creativity and latitude is expected. Methodical and results oriented with solid business skills. Quality tools and problem solving techniques. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to use good written and verbal communications skills in English language.
